At the same time, the world’s agricultural systems will be increasingly challenged by water scarcity, climate change and volatility, raising the risk of production shortfalls. The adverse effects and consequences of dust storms in terms of endangering human health, imposing huge costs on governments and communities, causing considerable damages to natural resources and agriculture (as witnessed by the reduced agricultural productivity in terms of quality and quantity), endangering flight safety and interfering with transportation, disrupting business and manufacturing activities, reducing both individual and cumulative productivity, among others, all bear witness to the importance of investigating the phenomenon and of identifying solutions to combat its impacts and to control its production. The vastness of the areas affected by blowing sands and dust storms calls for collaborative and joint efforts of experts and researchers across the globe to plan for and implement proactive and/or preventive measures with support and input by international agencies and national governments to control dust storms, to curb the enormous production of fine-grained dust, and to alleviate its impacts. To achieve these objectives, Khouzestan, Ramin Agriculture and Natural Resources University with support from the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and international agencies intends to organize The 1stInternational Congress on Dust Haze and Combating it's Adverse Effects.
